High Ropes Course

The Course
During my freshman year in high school, I began construction on a small high ropes course in my backyard. The entire course was designed by me and built with the help of my younger brother and sister. As I continued through high school, I was able to put to use more of what I learned in school to build the course. I applied the math and physics that I learned in class to further build the course. As the year progressed, my knowledge of building things increased. This allowed me to improve the qualities of the platforms that I was building, making them even stronger and safer than they were before.

Spacenet
After putting up three 100+ foot long ziplines and five sturdy platforms on the ropes course, I decided to add another element. I decided after some research that it would be really cool to build a small spacenet at the end of the course, about ten feet in the air. A spacenet is a largely sized hammock, however, it is formed into a freeform shape because it is handmade. The fifty square foot space net was hand woven with 550 type three paracord that I purchased in one thousand foot spools. After about twenty hours of weaving and knotting the spacenet together, it was finally finished and is now able to hold six people comfortably floating in the trees.
